Program
What Makes This Program Different?
Unlike other programs that focus mainly on theory, this program is built on Lisa Arnold’s 25+ years of clinical experience. It provides practical, evidence-based tools proven to work for mood and anxiety disorders. With a flexible approach, the program offers various treatment options, because no single method works for everyone.
Our small group size allows for deeper discussions on shared challenges, providing personalised and practical interventions tailored to your needs. Most importantly, participation is always your choice, you can engage as much or as little as you feel comfortable. We respect that everyone’s journey is different and create a supportive space where you can grow at your own pace.

Program Topics
Week 1
Topic 1: Understanding Depression & Anxiety
Feeling sad, worried, or stressed is normal—but when these feelings persist, they can impact daily life. This session explores the symptoms of depression and anxiety, how they affect thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and why they can feel overwhelming. Through discussion and self-reflection, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of these conditions and, most importantly, how to manage them. Topic 2: Challenging Negative Thoughts
Negative thinking patterns can fuel anxiety and depression, affecting how you feel and respond to life’s challenges. In this session, you’ll learn practical techniques to identify, challenge, and reframe unhelpful thoughts. Shift from self-criticism to self-compassion and replace negative self-talk with more balanced, constructive perspectives. |
Week 2
Topic 3: Overcoming Fears and Worries
Avoiding fearful situations may bring short-term relief, but it can make anxiety stronger over time. In this session, you’ll learn practical exposure techniques to gradually face fears in a safe, manageable way. Build confidence in handling difficult situations and reduce anxiety’s hold on your life.
Topic 4: Managing Triggers and Strengthening Emotional Resilience
Emotions can feel unpredictable, making it hard to stay in control. This session helps you identify personal triggers and develop practical strategies, including mindfulness and grounding techniques, to navigate emotional ups and downs with greater stability and confidence.
Week 3
Topic 5: The Power of Neuroplasticity: Rewiring your Brain
Your brain has an incredible ability to change and adapt. This session explores how your thoughts, behaviours and experiences shape your brain over time. You’ll discover how neuroplasticity allows you to reshape negative thinking patterns, strengthen emotional resilience, and take control of your mental well-being through small, consistent changes. Topic 6: The Mind-Body Connection: Building Healthy Habits Mental and physical health are deeply connected. This session explores how sleep, nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness influence mood and anxiety. Learn simple, realistic lifestyle changes that can boost energy, improve emotional balance, and enhance overall well-being. |
Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP):
A Medicare mental health treatment plan can be obtained from your GP. If you have a current MHTP in place you are eligible to use it for these group sessions and it will not contribute towards your individual psychology sessions as group treatment is processed under a different item number (80024).
