A functional behaviour assessment collects information about an individual to support the identification and understanding of challenging behaviours and why they are occurring.

What are the tests used for assessments?

Functional assessments are performed to gather a better understanding of the function of challenging behaviours from a clients perspective. Functional assessments vary, and can include a range of applications like risk assessments, interviews and observation, biopsychosocial assessments etc.

What does the assessment process look like?

  1. Initial appointment to perform a through interview in order to obtain all relevant background information.
  2. Administration of relevant assessment tools
  3. Your psychologist will complete a comprehensive report, including suggestions for intervention and recommendations for home, school or work.
  4. Feedback session to discuss the results of the functional assessments and the report.
  5. Ongoing support can also be provided to monitor progress and help clients achieve positive outcomes.
