Coming January 2026: Bulk Billed Trauma Group Workshop

Written by Natalee Zolotas, Practice Manager

At Picton Psychology, we know trauma doesn’t just live in memories, it lives in the body and nervous system. Our new Trauma Group Workshop (launching January 2026) helps you understand what trauma is, how it affects your brain and body, and how to regain calm, safety, and a stronger sense of self and it’s fully bulk billed.

What You’ll Learn
  • Grounding & stabilisation skills to settle the nervous system.
  • Emotion regulation & distress tolerance to ride out big feelings safely.
  • Workable tools for flashbacks, nightmares & intrusive memories
  • Graded exposure to gently reduce avoidance.
  • Cognitive reframing & compassionate self-dialogue to soften self-blame, guilt and shame, and rebuild balanced thinking.
  • Identity, meaning & post-traumatic growth practical ways to reconnect with your values and sense of self.

Why Group Therapy Helps with Trauma

Studies show that structured trauma-focused group workshops help to lessen trauma symptoms, including intrusive memories, sleep problems, and feeling “on edge.” This is not a support circle. It’s a structured, evidence-based workshop designed specifically for trauma presentations, facilitated by senior trauma-informed psychologists.

Groups help for two big reasons. First, trauma can make you feel alone or ashamed. Sitting with others who “get it” reduces that isolation and tells your nervous system, “It’s safe to be seen.”

Second, learning and practising skills, like grounding, calm breathing, and more balanced thinking makes those tools easier to use in everyday life. Over time, your body learns to settle faster, and your confidence grows.

It’s also normal for results to vary from person to person. That’s why our workshop focuses on safety first, avoids pressure to share details, and moves at a steady pace. The goal isn’t to “push through” your trauma, it’s to help your brain and body learn they’re safe again, and to do that alongside people who are walking the same path.

Who It’s For

Adults ready to deepen stabilisation and skill-building in a small, trauma-informed group. The workshop focuses on safety first, then growth, no pressure to share details of trauma, participation is always paced and respectful.
